Friends of Washington Oaks 2nd Saturday Plant Sale

Every 2nd Saturday of the month, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, 6400 N. Oceanshore Blvd, Palm Coast, FL 32137

After living in Ormond Beach for 6 years and not visiting all of our beautiful surroundings,  I decided it was time to check out Washington Oaks State Park during their 2nd Saturday Plant Sale. As I am striving to buy from local plant nurseries instead of the big box stores, this was a great occasion to not only support our local economy, but see a beautiful State Park.

After about a 25 minute drive, I came upon the entrance to Washington Oaks and paid the entrance fee of $5 (for a vehicle) $2 (for a pedestrian or bicyclist).

Their signage led me to the plant sale which is located near the front of the park, across from the Gift Shop and next to the restored greenhouse.

The plant sale consisted of Florida natives and other rare and hard to find plants: Orchids, Bromeliads, cacti, ferns, African violets, cleradendrum, desert rose, flap jacks, ferns, hoyas, orchids, sky vine, Kiwi vine, pony tail palms, Rex Begonias, scented geraniums, stag horns, and succulents, carpet roses, chenille baskets and a selection of annuals and perennials.

According to the Friends of Washington Oaks website, a portion of the plants for sale were propagated and grown right there in the park by volunteers. All proceeds benefit the park for enhancement of current and new facilities.
The park and gardens are beautifully maintained.  I am definitely planning a day trip back with the kiddos to visit their beach side park for a picnic.
Earth Day Celebration this weekend, April 21 – April 22nd , 10am – 4pm, Activities for the whole family!
