Celebrating Women in Our Community with Laura Alois, owner of 3 Little Bird Designs

Laura Alois, Owner of 3 Little Bird Designs with her niece
After Laura Alois relocated from upstate New York to Port Orange a short while ago, she fell in love with her new Florida home and found an inspiration for a business.
3 Little Bird Designs opened in July of 2011, offering beautiful jewelry creations that include hair pins, earrings, necklaces, and hair accessories for young children.  Each product is uniquely designed using a variety of craft materials.  “Having always loved it by the beach, I was inspired to use freshwater and glass pearls in many of my creations.”

After seeing her sister spending  money on commercially produced hair accessories (that were not so unique) for her niece, Laura decided she would put her creativity and sea-inspired materials to use. Throughout  most of her jewelry line, you will find beautiful pearls wrapped in wire, a niche that you do not find out on the market.
Laura’s jewelry collection includes pieces that are available to purchase "as is", but she enjoys working with customers to customize designs.  The bird nest necklace is her most popular request to customize. The pearls can be changed to symbolize the customers’ children.  She also accepts special requests for color preferences in the pearls, beads, hair pins, flower accessories, hair bands, and ribbon.  Children’s hair accessories can also be made to match any outfit or for any holiday.

If you are a local, you can find her hair pins sold at the Ta’ Da’ Gallery & Gift Shop on Flagler Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. Laura will also ship anywhere in the U.S. & Canada. Most of Laura’s designs can also be viewed on her Facebook Page. If you “Like” 3 Little Bird Designs on Facebook, you will receive offers/promotions.  With each order, customers receive a business card with a coupon on the back for 10% off their next purchase.
Anyone who runs a business from home knows the challenges and Laura is no exception.  Laura says the biggest challenge is the constant distractions, however, she finds it fulfilling having satisfied customers, even her 19-month-old niece loves the hair accessories.
3 Little Bird Designs has grown quite a bit since July of 2011 and Laura looks forward to continued growth and showcasing her ever-evolving, new designs.

Celebrating Women in Our Community with Karla Leschitz, owner of MerciBOWcoup

Karla created MerciBOWcoup, a customized and handcrafted hair accessory business, out of frustration of not finding unique accessories for her daughters. Creating her own accessories after her 2nd daughter came along, she began to receive many orders from other people, and soon MerciBOWcoup was up and running. Two years later, her business has been thriving and continuing to grow.

Custom and special orders are her specialty! Her customers love her pre-made items available for purchase, but she truly enjoys making one-of-a kind, fun, and unique pieces that are created to match a certain outfit or for a special event.

MerciBOWcoup is a home-based business in Port Orange.  Karla is happy to deliver orders to local customers, but shipping is also available everywhere in the US (free with the purchase of 3 accessories). She has also shipped to Mexico!

For MerciBOWcoup Facebook fans, you have access to specials and contests. The following are promotions that always apply:

·         Free Shipping with the purchase of 3 accessories

·         And a wonderful 15% off the entire order when you purchase 5 or more accessories (which almost always equals the price of 1 accessory!)

When Karla is not creating beautiful accessories, she is taking care of her 3 kids (all under the age of 4). Balancing family time and business time is very important to her, but truly enjoys running MerciBOWcoup.  “I am a very creative person (I am a hairstylist as well!). My mind never stops imagining and dreaming of new creations, it is amazing when you see that people love and appreciate what you do.”

To Find out More about MerciBOWcoup, visit http://www.facebook.com/MerciBOWcoup
You will find out about current specials or promotions.  Karla will post dates and places where MerciBOWcoup will be featured or sold!

Local Creators Help with 1st Birthday Party

For Our Daughter’s 1st Birthday Party, I started with an “Alice in Wonderland” type theme and put my own spin on it. Bottom Line, I wanted it to be a whimsical scene and fun for the little kids and big kids.  I could not have done this without the help of local creators and I have included them here.  Check out the Local Creators Tab to find their information!

Bow by Lori Levoy (Daytona Beach) Lori has a distinct eye for what you are wanting. She created this bow by combining different ideas I saw on-line. Bonus: the bow is detachable from the headband and can be worn separately.
This is my favorite bow!! This was used in our annual family pictures. With so many bright colors, it goes with many outfits!

The wreath that hung over the "Mad Hatter" Tea Party Table was created by 2ninedesign (Palm Coast). The colors were spot on for the theme and not a detail missed, down to the silver keys which were tied with beautiful ribbon around the wreath.

On the Food Table, I had an assortment of goodies for adults & kids, but these delicious & beautiful chocolate dipped strawberries, by Chocolates Galore (Ormond Beach), were gone in an instant.

One of the fun activities for the kids was face painting and we hired Face Painting by Morgan (Ormond Beach). She was so patient with the kids and did an amazing job!!

Spiderman was a big request with the boys

To add whimsy to the scene outside, I wanted bubbles coming down to the kids throughout the party. Now, we have purchased and have been given many bubble machines,  which we (the kids) manage to break shortly thereafter. So, I found Jumping Beans (Port Orange) and was able to rent a commercial bubble machine that we only had to fill once at the beginning of the party and place on top of the playhouse. Kids loved it and bubbles were flying down the street!
A Successful Party & A Very Happy Birthday Girl!!
